Coffee, one of the world's most beloved beverages, demands packaging that not only preserves its quality but also aligns with environmental sustainability. Given the susceptibility of coffee beans to oxidation and moisture, effective packaging must provide superior barrier properties. Traditional packaging solutions typically employ a three-layer structure (PET/AL/PE), which effectively blocks oxygen and moisture. The packaging process involves vacuum sealing followed by the installation of a one-way vent valve, ensuring that gases produced during storage can be expelled while maintaining a vacuum environment inside the package. However, this conventional approach has notable limitations: it is neither recyclable nor biodegradable, posing significant environmental challenges. Additionally, the opaque nature of the packaging hinders consumers' ability to assess the quality of the beans visually.
Our company has developed an innovative solution through extensive research and experimentation. We have introduced a fully transparent, single-material, three-layer composite structure (BOPE/SCGPE/CPE) for coffee packaging bags. This design not only meets the stringent requirements for preserving coffee bean quality but also offers a transparent window, enhancing the consumer experience by allowing visual inspection of the product. Moreover, the new packaging is fully recyclable, addressing environmental concerns. Our experimental results demonstrate that at a total thickness of 140 microns, the material exhibits excellent barrier properties, with oxygen and moisture permeability both below 0.1. For printing, we utilize water-based inks and a non-dissolving lamination process to minimize any potential impact on the packaged contents. In terms of bag design, we offer a variety of styles including center-sealed, four-side sealed, stand-up zipper, and quad bottom sealed bags, catering to diverse customer preferences and providing greater flexibility in choice.
