High-barrier films, as an innovative type of food packaging material, have gained widespread application across various domains, including dairy products, pet food, seafood, and cooked foods. Among these applications, corn packaging represents one of the most demanding challenges due to its unique characteristics. Fresh corn is abundant in starch and sugar, which are highly susceptible to discoloration caused by oxidation. Consequently, vacuum packaging combined with high-temperature steam sterilization is essential for extending its shelf life. This necessitates packaging materials with exceptional barrier properties, heat resistance, and longevity. 

To tackle this challenge, the industry has introduced several solutions, such as polyvinyl alcohol (PVA)-coated films, ethylene-vinyl alcohol (EVOH) co-extruded films, aluminum oxide-coated films, and silicon oxide-coated films—all categorized as high-barrier films. Nevertheless, each of these materials exhibits certain limitations. For example, PVA-coated films possess good water solubility but require heat treatment to enhance their water resistance and adhesion strength. In contrast, inorganic coatings (e.g., aluminum oxide or silicon oxide coatings) lack flexibility and are prone to cracking when the inner layer material is stretched, thereby compromising their barrier performance. Therefore, in practical applications, they are typically paired with a relatively flexible heat-sealable layer (such as RCPP) to compensate for these shortcomings.

Jointhope has developed a specialized high-temperature cooking nylon bag for corn packaging by leveraging the advantages of the aforementioned materials. This product innovatively enhances the conventional three-layer nylon cooking structure (HG-PA/PA/RCPP) through the adoption of an advanced nylon coating material. By optimizing the masterbatch raw material formula, this material significantly improves the peel strength of the nylon film after high-temperature steaming or cooking and achieves an exceptionally low oxygen transmission rate via a coating process, thereby markedly enhancing the oxygen barrier performance post-steaming or cooking. The resulting nylon bag is not only lightweight, thin, and flexible but also exhibits superior barrier properties, capable of withstanding high-temperature cooking at approximately 121°C (250°F). It fully satisfies all packaging requirements for corn under both ambient temperature storage and high-temperature steaming conditions.
